Snow and Gusty Wind Today - Poor Travel Conditions Expected

A Nor'easter  is expected to impact the region today, but the impact around the Capital Region looks to be on the lighter side, as the storm takes a more Easterly track. Snow will become steadier from SE to NW this morning, with snowfall of varying intensity through this afternoon and evening.  A gusty NNW wind from 15-20 mph at times will cause blowing and drifting of the very dry snow creating poor visibility and hazardous travel conditions at times through late tonight. General Storm accumulations in the Capital Region of 2-6" are expected, with higher amounts across western New England.

State Police report five DWI arrests

Malta - State Police stationed in Malta announced that they have made five DWI arrests since January 31.

Police say they arrested 21-year-old Frank Emmer on January 31.  Emmer was allegedly found to have a Blood Alcohol Content .13 percent.

Also on January 31, police say they arrested 22-year-old Matthew Gilmore of Scotia.  According to police he was originally pulled over for failing to use a signal.  Police say Gilmore was found to have a blood alcohol content of .14 percent.

State Police reported that on February 1st they arrested 24-year-old Jacqueline Ferrandino.  Ferrandino allegedly was arrested after a one vehicle accident and found to have a blood alcohol content of .22 percent.

On February 2 police allegedly arrested 23-year-old Joshua Loukes after a traffic stop for speeding.  Police say Loukes had a blood alcohol content of .15 percent.

According to police the final arrest took place on February 2 as well when they arrested 28-year-old Korey Harris.  Police say that after a one car accident Harris was found to have a blood alcohol content of .17 percent.

All five involved were charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and are expected to appear in court at a later date.
