Glens Falls residents dig out from latest snowstorm

GLENS FALLS -- Residents in the winter weary North Country continued to dig out as more snow and ice pelted the area Wednesday.

"It's been busy, it's been a lot of hard work shoveling and all that, but you've got to do what you've got to do. Living in Upstate New York you've got to expect it once in a while," said Tony Klick as he used a snow blower on his driveway. "At first it was exciting to have a full time winter, but enough's enough. It's baseball season we shouldn't be dealing with all this ice and snow and stuff."

The latest storm came a day after temperatures topped 50 degrees and many residents went out in shorts to enjoy the nice weather.

Rain started falling early Wednesday and slowly turned to sleet and then snow as the temperature fell. Many area roads were coated in ice making for a slick evening commute.

"I ended up breaking two of my shovels in my own driveway. I came to Ace [Hardware] and they're closed due to the snowstorm. I understand how it goes. I usually just hunker down in these storms," said Steve Frank.

Officials encouraged drivers to avoid unnecessary travel to allow the plows and road crews time to clear the roads as residents hoped this was the last storm of the season.

"I'm more than hoping," said Klick. "I'm praying this is it."
