Wind damages 2 North Adams Communcations Tower

NORTH ADAMS - Two communications towers suffered wind damage after high winds tore through the area overnight Saturday.

Officials say the owner of land the towers sit on, Cory Thurston, notified emergency services and cell carriers, including Verizon and AT&T. of the damage to the mountain property in North Adams.

A Verizon spokesperson says they have started efforts to "deploy a temporary solution to restore service to area Verizon Wireless customers".

CBS6 spoke with the Mayor who says fire, police and EMS are back up and running at full capacity, with a temporary fix until plans to replace to the tower are made.

North Adams officials say 911 services still remain operative; however callers may need to use a land line to call while cell service is restored.
