South Colonie Coach arrested for possession
ALBANY - A coach for the Colonie School district has been arrested on drug charges.
Police say 55 year-old James Boland, an 18 year coach and social studies teacher at Colonie Central High School, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of crack cocaine.
Police say Boland was stopped in Albany at 8:30 Thursday night for failing to signal when he allegedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine.
In a statement on the South Colonie website, the coach has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
"While the District cannot and should not speculate, we must act in a manner which protects the well-being of students while the questions and details of this issue are answered following a legal process," said South Colonie Superintendent Jonathan Buhner.
