Voters approve new Defreestville fire station

WYNANTSKILL -- Voters in the North Greenbush Fire District approved a vote to bond nearly $6 million to build a new fire station in Defreestville.
The new station would be built on Route 4 and would replace the current 70-year-old fire station.  As proposed, the new station would have more than 10,000 square feet dedicated to firefighting, along with 1,700 square feet for office space and 2,600 square feet for meeting and training rooms.
"This project will be a benefit to all resident of the Fire District as well as greatly improve conditions for the volunteers at Defreestville Fire Department," said Michael Lashmet, Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for the North Greenbush Fire District #1.
