Volunteers clean up canals

WATERFORD - Volunteers gathered for the ninth annual "Canal Clean Sweep" of the New York State Canals and Canalway Trail.

On Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon the volunteers were joined by the New York State Canal Corporation Director Brian Stratton.  Mr. Stratton met the crews along various locks in Niskayuna, Waterford, and Rexford.

The whole canal system is comprised of four different waterways.  These waterways are the Erie, the Champlain, the Oswego, and the Cayuga-Seneca Canals.
