Nor'easter to Bring a Heavy to Major Snowfall Monday Night into Tuesday Night

A major Nor'easter is expected to develop south of New England Monday night, potentially getting stuck near Cape Cod into Tuesday before moving away Tuesday night.  This storm will bring heavy snow and gusty wind at times causing blowing and drifting snow, potential whiteout conditions at times leading to dangerous travel late Monday night through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations of 10" to 20" will be possible, especially in the Hudson valley and across western New England with amounts up to 10" in the Mohawk valley and western Catskills.

Community forum to combat heroin addiction

TROY -- It's being called an epidemic in the Capital Region. Heroin use and addiction is on the rise, so Wednesday a forum was held to talk solutions.

Senator Kathy Marchione joined panelists at the free community forum at the Hudson Valley Community College. It's sponsored by the Bipartisan Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction.

The goal is to get imput ont he rise in abuse of the dangerous drugs, and to develop legislative recommendations for treating and preventing addiction.

Lisa Wickens knows all to well the dangers. Her son suffered from heroin addiction and for the past few years has been clean.

"Today is a good day. But that's how you take it as one day at a time. My hope in being able to talk about this is that more people realize it's not just what people would consider heroin addiction, oppiate addiction for the poor communities it's actually middle class and affluent communities it's kids with stress," she says.

The forum went from 9 until 12pm Wednesday. Law enforcement and addiction specialists were also on hand.
