Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Kingsbury man charged with stealing $20,000

WASHINGTON COUNTY - The Washington County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Kingsbury man on forgery charges after allegedly stole money from someone he knew.

Investigators say Jason Lapierre, 38, is accused of cashing a check from an account in the Town of Fort Edward that was not his for $20,000.

Lapierre is currently in jail for a parole violation.

In 2011 he was found guilty of stealing more then $400,000 from his job at the Hudson River Credit Union.  He claimed to have stolen the money to pay bills and support his children.

He was also served as the pastor of his church.

He is scheduled to reappear in Town of Fort Edward court in May.

More charges are pending.
