Investigation into Troy shooting continues
TROY -- Troy police said Monday that they are looking for the person who shot five people early Sunday morning on 4th Street in Troy. They said it happened outside of a couple of pizza restaurants.
"I think it's time for someone to speak up. This has got to stop, enough is enough," said Mike Camaj, from I Love Pizza of Troy. Police said the shooting happened right next door to his shop, outside.
"It effects everybody, not just me, but everyone around me," he said.
Camaj said that business in Troy is improving and that crime seems to be getting better. But he said that a setback like this shooting is bad for business. He is hopeful that police make an arrest soon
"This is not about a place that was dangerous this is about a person who was in a sense dangerous by their presence in the area," said Captain John Cooney, from the Troy Police.
Captain Cooney said that police believe one, if not two, of the shooting victims were intended targets. The other three were innocent bystanders. He said Troy Police are working with Rensselaer County probation and New York State parole officers to make an arrest.
Captain Cooney also said that police are using surveillance video from nearby cameras as they investigate.
"We're not telling exactly what we've seen so far - but it's good video and it's ample video," he said.
Camaj said that he hoped that when the cameras were installed they would deter crime. He is hopeful now that they will solve this crime.
"I hope they put a lid on this because it's not good for the neighborhood," he said.
