Police get help to combat heroin problems
ALBANY -- On Tuesday, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the first round of awards to equip and train officers with the heroin antidote naloxone.
The announcement came as part of the Community Overdose Prevention Program launched last month. In total, 39 law enforcement agencies across the state will get money for kits and training on using the antidote - but the Attorney General says it is important to start fighting right here in the Capital Region.
Albany County ranks 6th out of all of the counties in the state when it comes to opioid-related hospitalizations.
