Heroin paraphernalia bust ends with arrest

SCHODACK - State police need your help finding the driver behind the wheel of a vehicle filled with heroin paraphernalia.

Investigators said they spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Route 9 park and ride in Schodack on Wednesday. They said when they approached the vehicle, two people got out and ran off.

One of them was caught and, after giving a fake name, was identified as James F. Cooper, 27, of Averill Park. State police say the vehicle's driver is still on the loose.

Along with paraphernalia, hypodermic needles were found inside the vehicle.

Cooper faces several charges, including possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal impersonation. He is in Rensselaer County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
