101-year-old woman catches suspected thief

HASTINGS, Mich. (AP) -- She's a 101-year-old crime fighter.

Pauline Puttbrese helped catch a crook in a Michigan retirement community. She thought cash was missing from her purse and came up with the idea for a sting.

Administrators of the Woodlawn Meadows Retirement Village and the police chief of Hastings got involved. The Grand Rapids Press reports Chief Jeff Pratt credits her with helping to catch the suspect. He says the employee then confessed to officers.

Puttbrese says she lost about $70 to the thief. She adds she'd like to kick the crook in the rear end.
