Police: Vehicle exploded in Troy
TROY -- Police say a vehicle exploded on Fifth Avenue in Troy on Tuesday night.
They say they were called to the area around 8:20 Tuesday night for a report of an explosion of a vehicle. When they arrived, they found a 1990 Jeep with heavy damage, including blown-out windows. No one was inside the SUV, and no injures were reported from the incident.
The State Police bomb squad, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Troy K-9 were called in to assist. The dogs were used to ensure no other explosive devices were in the area.
Investigators continue to search for clues in the incident. They say the Jeep was reported stolen from Watervliet on Monday. The registered owner of the vehicle, Joseph Murphy, has been interviewed, but no additional information has been released.
