Woman dies after rescued from Kaaterskill Falls

TANNERSVILLE - CBS6 has confirmed that the woman who fell almost 70 feet from the Kaaterskill falls on Saturday has died from her injuries.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was near the falls when she fell at around 1:45 p.m.  She was air-lifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition

Tannersville Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Tuomey says that rescues at the Kaaterskill falls are very challenging due to narrow trails and the terrain.

Chief Tuomey also says that these type of rescues are becoming more and more common due to people ignoring signage, as well as improper footwear such as flip-flops.
