DEC asks for help in oil spill investigation

BETHLEHEM -- The State DEC is asking for the public's help figuring out who or what caused a petroleum spill last week near the Selkirk fire station in Bethlehem.

Authorities say that on June 10th, about 50 gallons of petroleum were found puddled along Bridge Street. They say even more petroleum was found along more than a mile of road, extending about a foot into the grass on the side of the road. DEC cleaned up the substance and is now investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-457-5680 and advise the dispatcher they are calling with information regarding the Selkirk spill. Callers can remain anonymous.
