Price Chopper to cut 80 positions
SCHENECTADY - Price Chopper is shedding 80 positions within the company, however they say it's not going to affect shoppers.
In a release on their website, Jerry Golub, president and CEO, states that the positions being eliminated are all on the corporate and include management, field, clerical and administrative support.
Those eliminated will be offered severance packages as well as outplacement services.
Golub stresses that health care costs, rising fuel, as well as the need to stay competitive with the introduction of new stores in the area.
Price Chopper employees more than 22,000 people,
"Despite the difficulty of the decisions implemented today, we are very optimistic about the future of our company and ready to face the challenges that lie ahead. Though painful, these actions serve to better position Price Chopper as we move forward, both strategically and competitively." said Jerry Golub.
