Rotterdam police report water main break

The Town of Rotterdam is now estimating that water will be restored for most residents between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. on Monday.

The Town says that an unprecedented four water main breaks occurred within an 18 hour span.

Once water is restored, the boil water advisory will remain in effect for a minimum of 24 to 36 hours.

Fresh drinking water is available to residents at 1410 Curry Road for any resident who brings a one gallon jug.

The Town is also prohibiting unnecessary use of water and burning of any kind.

ROTTERDAM -- Rotterdam police say Mariaville Road from the five corners intersection to Phillips Street and Curry Road from North Wescott Road to five corners is back open after a water main break Monday morning.

Princetown from Five corners to Wellington Avenue is still closed as of 6:30 a.m.

Residents are advised to conserve water usage and refrain from watering lawns as the water department works to make the necessary repairs. Officials have also issued a boil water order order for the entire town as a precautionary measure in response to the breaks.

Authorities also say the Town Band concert scheduled for Monday night has been cancelled.
