Teen girls arrested for Albany robberies

ALBANY -- Police have arrested two teenage girls they say are responsible for recent strong-arm robberies in Albany.

Deje Crenshaw, 17, and a 15-year-old girl who is not being identified because of her age, were arrested on robbery charges. Authorities say they are responsible for two robberies in the early morning hours on July 12.

Police say at about 1:34 a.m., the two girls approached a woman near Hudson Avenue and Quail Street. They allegedly knocked her to the ground and stole her purse. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, says they also kicked and punched her during the encounter. She sustained minor injuries from the incident.

Just hours later at approximately 3:45 a.m., investigators say the teens approached two women walking on the 100 block of Partridge street. The victims told police that the teens knocked them to the ground and robbed them. They also claim the girls punched and kicked them. The women, ages 21 and 22, were treated at the scene and taken to St. Peter's Hospital for evaluation.

Authorities say the investigation into the girls is ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
