Albany man pleads guilty after being found with stolen car

ALBANY -- An Albany man is facing prison time for stealing a car and offering to return it to the owner for cash.

David Moore, 55, pleaded guilty on Thursday to criminal possession of stolen property. The charge stems from an incident last month when a car was stolen from its parking spot on Central Avenue between Manning Blvd. and Partridge Street.

According to officials, the victim's cell phone was still in the car when it was taken on June 3. The next day, repeated calls were made to the phone, and when Moore answered, he said he would return the car for $20. When he showed up to the pre-arrainged location to meet the victim, he found the police instead.

Moore faces up to 3 years in prison for the crime when he is sentenced in September.
