High school students get hands-on medical experience

ALBANY -- High school students got a chance to get hands-on medical experience on Thursday.

Students were participating in MedQuest, a week-long camp at Albany Medical Center that exposes the students to medical professions. Nearly 20 students showed off their skills performing CPR and molding casts.

They will spend the week meeting with surgeons, nurses and pharmacists getting valuable pointers as they consider careers in the medical field. Organizers say it is important for students to get first-hand experience before they decide to pursue a profession in healthcare.
