Troy FD gets boost from feds

TROY -- Help is on the way for the City of Troy Fire Department.

They will soon get a $415,000 grant. The money will go toward training and equipment needs for emergency responders in Rensselaer County. Senators Schumer and Gillibrand supported the funding, along with Congressman Paul Tonko, who was on hand for Tuesday's announcement.

The money will also be used to send firefighters to paramedic school and cover costs for workers to fill the gaps while those men and women are away learning new skills.
