Body found in water near Lee Campground

UPDATE: Officials have identified the man who was found floating in a lake on Wednesday as Daniel Gurnett, 49, from Clifton Park. After conducting an autopsy on Thursday, his official cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation due to drowning. Police do not suspect foul play.

SARATOGA -- A man's body was pulled from Fish Creek Wednesday afternoon near Lee's Campground. The property manager said he was making routine checks when he noticed the body floating and called 911.

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said the man appeared to be in his mid-40s. The man was not carrying any ID, but Zurlo said a tentative identity was made and the department was working to notify his family.

The manager said the man did not appear to be a registered guest. Neighbors said they did not recognize him.

Zurlo said investigators do not suspect foul play, but added the investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.
