PROVIDENCE - Officials say a man is dead after falling into the water at Sacandaga Lake.

Officials say Arthur Merchant died after he fell into the water while docking the pontoon boat he was operating.  Officials responded to the scene at around 8:30 p.m.

Officials say the three other passengers that were on the boat had already exited when Merchant fell into the water.

Diving crews searched the water for about two hours until they found him near the boat.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
