Crews battle early morning fire Niskayuna

NISKAYUNA - Fire crews battled an early morning fire that started after the homeowner had left for work.

Officials on the scene say that the call came in from a neighbor at around 6:15 a.m.  When crews arrived, officials say they had trouble locating the fire and putting it out.  It took multiple crews about 45 minutes to have the fire under control.

Crews did put out the fire.  In the process officials say one firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was check out by an EMS on the scene.

Investigators are on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.  According to officials the house is not a total loss but did suffer severe smoke and water damage.
