Police: Man ran into Mohawk River to avoid cops

COHOES -- Police say one man went to some extreme lengths in an attempt to avoid arrest.

Police say they tried to pull over Carl Goodson, 22, on Friday morning on the Cohoes side of the Waterford-Cohoes bridge. That's when they say he jumped out of the car and ran along the riverbank, eventually going into the Mohawk River.

Goodson didn't get far before police caught him.

Officers say they also discovered Goodson was wanted for rape by Oneida City Police and his license had been suspended 11 times. He is now behind bars at the Saratoga County Jail.
