Developing Storm: Snow To Increase in Coverage and Intensity After Midnight

A major Nor'easter now developing off the mid Atlantic coast will put eastern New York and western New England on its western side through Tuesday.  Snow will become steadier from SE to NW across the region after midnight and towards daybreak Tuesday with snowfall of varying intensity through Tuesday evening.  A gusty NNW wind from 20-30 mph at times will cause blowing and drifting of the very dry snow creating poor visibility and hazardous travel conditions into Tuesday night. General Storm accumulations in the Capital Region of 8"-14" are expected.

Job Fair Held for potential casino

A casino job fair was held in East Greenbush Tuesday. It was put together by the group that wants to build a casino there.

The Capital View Casino and Resorted  is a partnership between the Saratoga Casino and Raceway and Churchill Downs.

The state has not chosen which casino proposal it will approve yet. But a spokesperson for the Saratoga Casino and Raceway said that there are jobs currently open locally at the Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

She also said the job fair was for people to learn what kind of experience or qualifications they would need for a casino job in the area.

Tables were set up at the fair with information on jobs in construction, hospitality, gaming, IT and management.

"I came just to see what's going to be offered," said Becky Dellavechia, from Castleton.

"The are jobs that are available now but the focus is on how can people get the experience they need for when a casino comes to the Capital Region," said Rita Cox, spokesperson for the Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

A group of East Greenbush residents has been vocal about not wanting a casino there. It released a statement calling the fair a marketing scam. Cox said it is not a scam because there were jobs and training opportunities.
