Major Leaguer to play at The Joe

Troy, NY - Houston Astros outfielder Alex Presley joined the Tri-City ValleyCats Tuesday afternoon to begin a rehab assignment.  He has been on the disabled list with the right oblique strain.

As a five-year major league veteran, does Presley feel any pressure to perform well this week while facing Class A opponents in the New York-Penn League?

"I've had guys coming up for rehab and they go oh-fer, and you're like 'really, this guy went oh-fer -- he's not that good'", Presley explained with a smile.  "I'm just going to come out and try to do my thing and see how it goes."

Presley arrived in Troy at 3:00pm Tuesday, and signed a few autographs for fans at the ballpark.  He is expected to be with Tri-City through at least Thursday.

The former Ole Miss Rebel is the first ever MLB position player to suit up for the ValleyCats.  He was penciled in to be Tuesday's DH and lead-off hitter against Hudson Valley.
