Positively Upstate: Chocolatier giving back to the community
BROADALBIN, NY (WRGB) A local chocolate maker is giving back to his Fulton County community this Christmas in the most delicious of ways. He’s raffling off seven chocolate Santa centerpieces with all the proceeds going to not-for-profits in the area.
General Manager of EMVI Chocolates says when he moved his business to Broadalbin from New York City about 5 years ago, the closeness and supportiveness of the local community immediately struck him. And he wanted to be a part of it.
“So, I said why not start a raffle to give away giant chocolate centerpieces? We did it with giant Easter bunnies and now we’re doing it with giant Santa’s.” Gelman says. “One hundred percent of everything we raise is going to be donated to two local not-for-profits. The Fulton County YMCA and the Paul Nigra Center for the Creative Arts.”
Raffle tickets cost $2.00 each and the Santa’s will be given away between December 15th and the 21st. They’re 5lbs, 19 inches tall and meant to be shared! Besides individual chocolates and truffles – Gelman specializes in a variety of homemade creations for all times of the year. Coloring on pieces is also all-natural. Several we saw were designed using beet powder.
EMVI Chocolates reaches a lot of its customers by Facebook and Instagram. Many of his products are sold nationally at Whole Foods Markets.
