Opinion: Gov. Northam has to resign amid blackface photo scandal
Eyes across the country are fixated on the governor’s mansion in the commonwealth of Virginia. The Democratic Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam is engulfed in a scandal stemming from a deeply racist yearbook photo that has recently come to light.
This has been a dumpster fire of epic proportions – and what was Northam’s iron clad defense for the disgusting image?
Well at first, he admitted to being in the yearbook photo and apologized but then, less than a day later he said that he did not remember being in the photo but did remember appearing in blackface on a separate occasion.
Let that sink in – it seems that the current, Democratic governor of Virginia has engaged in so much racist behavior that he can’t even get his story straight.
I am baffled by how poorly Northam has handled this situation. At one point he even considered moonwalking during a press conference as a joke.
The photo on Governor Northam’s yearbook page is disgusting and despicable. Thankfully, he has been roundly criticized and called on to resign by prominent figures from every side of the political spectrum.
Northam’s excuses have been weak, and he is not fit to lead Virginia.
Here’s the bottom line: Honestly – I am both speechless and infuriated.
Governor Northamc’mon. What are you doing? Resign immediately. The people of Virginia deserve a better leader than you.
