MALTA NY (WRGB) - Since 1949, the Malta Drive-In has been showing movies to folks in Saratoga county and as they say in show business....The Show Must Go On....

Despite COVID-19 shuttering so many businesses this spring, the drive-ins around the area are coming back to life, albeit with a new way of having to do things.

Its season #71 for the Malta Drive-In, the past 32 years being run by brothers Ed and Tom Caro. But this year, it’s a first for them

“We had to come up with different systems to run everything that we had been doing for all these years, so a lot of thinking, a lot of head scratching trying to figure out the right way of doing it," said Ed Caro.

Part of the plan is only allowing half the capacity if what it used to be allowed in terms of the cars

“Well 800 cars we could have but now it’ll be just shy of 400 cars using every other space," Caro continued.

Need to use the restroom?

Well, there’s a little more privacy. The facilities are now set up for 50% occupancy.

“Yeah the major releases the studios are holding back on that until the indoor theaters get back in the game so now were stuck with some of the other things but i think we’ll do alright because people really want to get out of the house," Caro added.
