ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — Advocates gathered outside of the state capitol Tuesday to rally for healthy school meals for all students in New York.
These advocates are calling on lawmakers to double funding for the Double Up Food Bucks program, which they say provides healthy breakfasts and lunches for students across the state. These calls come as pandemic related benefits tied to the snap program are set to end for families everywhere.
These advocates are requesting $4 million in state funding in order to provide what they call “critical resources” to struggling families.
