ALBANY, NY (WRGB)--One local county may ban smoking in public parks.
The Albany County Legislature is expected to approve the law at a meeting Monday night.
The law would ban cigarettes, tobacco products, liquid nicotines, and electronic cigarettes in all county-owned parks and recreation areas.
That includes Lawson Lake County Park, the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail, and the Ann Lee Pond Nature and Historic Preserve.
Advocates say it protects people's health and reduces litter that can hurt the environment.
