An Albany man has pleaded not guilty for attacking another man with a sword.

Randell Mason, 42 plead not guilty this morning.

On Monday, August 29, 2022 around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to the Capital Connections Drop-In Center, located at 315 Sheridan Avenue for reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old man inside with severe lacerations to his body and experiencing blood loss.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Through the investigation, detectives determined that Mason struck the victim several times about the body with a sword while inside the building.

Mason was remanded to jail without bail.

A judge has issued an order of protection on behalf of the victim.
