Albany Police: man arrested in shooting after foot pursuit

ALBANY, NY (WRGB) A 23 year old Watervliet man was arrested in connection to a Monday evening shooting.

Polices ay at around 7:00 PM Monday, officers responded to the 300 block of First Street after hearing what they thought was a gunshot.

There Police say they saw a man running down first street with a handgun in his hand.

Investigators say after a brief foot pursuit, police tookShayquan Deans into custody.Police say they also recovered a loaded .380 handgun.

The victim was located shortly after the incident at Albany Memorial Hospital being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Deans has been charged with attempted murder along with criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a firearm.

He was arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
