Albany police probe attempted abduction of teenage girl
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) - Albany police are investigating an attempted abduction that happened Tuesday night on Robin Street.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Sheridan Avenue around 7:30 p.m. after reports that a man had attempted to force a teen into his vehicle. Police say the victim told them that she while she was walking on Central Avenue, an unknown man approached her on the sidewalk and tried to engage her in conversation.
Police say the victim said she told the man that she was not interested in talking to him and walked away. She told officers that the man then approached her again, grabbed her by the wrist and began to pull her towards a dark colored SUV. Police say the 16-year-old victim was able to break free from the man and notify police.
The victim suffered a laceration to her mouth.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 23 years of age. He was last seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and blue jeans. He is said to be driving a dark colored SUV.
