UPDATE: State Police are still investigating why a tractor trailer burst into flames early Tuesday morning on the Northway.
It caused major traffic backups for several hours in Colonie.
State Police tell us the tractor trailer twas carrying moving supplies and some of the items, as well as parts of the tractor trailer, had spilled onto the road.
Calls for the fire came in around 4 a.m.
The tractor trailer was located just past Exit 5 on the right southbound - smoke fuming from the top.
Police say no one was injured but immediately following the vehicle fire all southbound lanes were shut down as emergency crews put out the flames.
After the debris was cleaned up, all lanes were reopened.
State Police tell us no other vehicles were involved.

State Police have released more details about the fire. They say the first calls came in at about 4:00 a.m. when a tractor trailer truck burst into flames. Police say the truck was carrying moving supplies.
Police say no one was injured, and no other vehicles were involved. The say all lanes are expected to re-open once the truck is towed away. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

COLONIE, NY (WRGB) -- New York State Police say all lanes of the Northway heading South are shut down because of an early morning vehicle fire.
Emergency crews are on scene just south of Exit 5. All motorists are being directed off the interstate.
