ALBANY (WRGB) — There are new updates on the impeachment investigation into Governor Cuomo from a local lawmaker who’s in the middle of the action.
Assemblyman Phil Steck says that he expects to hear more information on witness statements within the next month.
Steck sits on the Assembly’s Judiciary Committee, which votes on any charges of impeachment that would come against Cuomo.

The last time the committee met, he says, was when they voted to issue subpoenas related to the incident. Steck says what they’re mainly investigating is the idea of abuse of power, saying,
“If you combine with all that power that he already has and allow a governor to further abuse his power, it's a very serious threat to the state of democracy in the state of New York and that's what we have to look at in the committee."
He also says the committee’s currently waiting on lawyers to issue those subpoenas and collect witness statements.
