Bill would allow for marijuana in treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder
A new bill would add Autism Spectrum Disorder to the list of conditions that can be treated with medical marijuana in New York.
Asm. Angelo Santabarbara is introducing the legislation, saying recent research has shown that medical marijuana can be an effective therapy for children with certain cases of autism. Santabarbara's son was born with autism.
Santabarbara said this type of treatment is new, but has already proven beneficial for treating common symptoms for many diagnosed with autism.
Right now, 14 states allow the use of medical marijuana to treat symptoms of autism.
