Capital Region schools tap former UFC fighter to help battle bullying

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (WRGB)--A former UFC fighter is speaking at Capital Region schools, delivering a message he says could save lives.

Tom Murphy presented the Sweethearts and Heroes campaign, which speaks out against bullying and suicide among young people.

Murphy said the rise in suicides among students ages 10-14 isn't going to stop unless adults get involved.

"It isn't going to stop unless we do something about it. We have the power to do something about it. its' a choice we've made to do what we call Jump into Action and share this incredible message that we've come up with," said Murphy.
