Car belonging to Assembly member seen parked illegally in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) - They write bills that become law, so you'd think they should follow the law -- not so for one member of the New York State Assembly in downtown Albany.
Take a look at the photo at the top of the page -- a car with the license plate Assembly 5. That's a plate given to an Assembly member, parked illegally in a loading zone for hours today.
This happened at State Street at the corner of Swan. By adding up the accounts of eyewitnesses and our news crew, this car was there in a 30 minute loading zone for four hours or more.
The car carries the name of a Long Island car dealer -- we think we know which Assembly member owns it, but we haven't been able to confirm that yet.
As you can see in the photo, there is actually a parking enforcement vehicle in front of it. But we have confirmed the Assembly car was never ticketed. Parking Authority executive director Matthew Peter says all cars are subject to the same rules, and he's not sure why the Assembly car wasn't ticketed, but he will keep looking into it.
