Colonie crash injures two, including officer

COLONIE -- A Colonie police officer and another driver were both injured after a vehicle struck a patrol car Sunday afternoon, police said.

Colonie police said a marked patrol car was stopped at a red light on Sand Creek Road when the other car rear-ended it.

Officer Eric Montijo complained of neck pain following the incident and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The other driver, a 92-year-old Colonie woman, complained of leg pain and was transported to Albany Medical Center by Colonie EMS. Police say she is currently in stable condition.

Police said the crash caused substantial damage to both vehicles, which led to Sand Creek Road being restricted to one lane for
