DA: Syracuse man pleads guilty to possessing kilos of cocaine, loaded guns
TROY, NY (WRGB) A Syracuse man has pleaded guilty to possessing a large quantity of cocaine, as well to a weapons charge.
Juan Rodriguez, 38 pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.
Investigators say Rodriquez and a passenger were driving in the Town of Schodack in I-90 when they were stopped by State Police.
Troopers say they uncovered a hidden cache of cocaine, weighing around 2 kilograms. Police say they also recovered two handguns and $2,850 in the vehicle.
The passenger, AllensBatista-Rivera, had previously pleaded to a felony count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, and was sentenced to time served.
At the time of the arrest, Rodriguez was on parole for a 2001 conviction out of Onondaga County for Manslaughter in the First Degree.
