Albany celebrates Juneteenth

ALBANY -- Dozens of people came to the Capital South Campus Center Sunday, for a Juneteenth celebration.

The holiday commemorates the end of slavery in America, and celebrates freedom.

Sunday's event included music, entertainment, food, and giveaways.

This is the third year the Capital Region has hosted an event.

Juneteenth is recognized as a state holiday in New York. It is celebrated in 30 states and in Washington, D.C.
