Eight receive Albany County Executive's Volunteer Award
ALBANY--Eight people were honored in Albany County as recipients of the County Executive's Volunteer Award.
One of them works at a local food pantry and another is a man who helps kids stay out of trouble by giving them sports and educational activities to do instead.
We spoke to one of the honorees, a woman who helps Safyre Terry, the little girl from Rotterdam who survived a Schenectady house fire that killed her family.
"To be nominated, I was surprised, I was very surprised, but it's humbling, it's very humbling. It's rewarding and because doing for them is doing for myself," said Anne Murphy.
These awards are given out each year to people who go above and beyond -- to make the albany community a better place.
