Fire crews battle house fire in Chatham

CHATHAM, NY (WRGB) Fire crews are on the scene of a large house fire on Rigor Hill Road.

The house at 223 Rigor Hill Road, was fully engulfed in flames when volunteers arrived.

Austerlitz Fire Chief, Eric Pilkington, said that when he arrived a ruptured propane tank was blowing flames into the middle of the home.

The chief says that the home was a total loss. No one was home and there were no reported injuries.

New York State Fire Inspection and Columbia County Cause and Origin Team will be working with Investigators to determine a cause for the fire, according to State Police.
