First responders give 5-year-old a special birthday
It was a birthday party to remember when 5-year-old Bryce, who has autism, was surprised with a party given by his heroes -- local first responders.
The idea was born when an Albany County Sheriff's deputy stopped by the house to change the battery in Bryce's Project Lifesaver monitor. Bryce's mom told the deputy no one came to the child's birthday party last year -- so she asked if officers could stop by and say hello this year.
Instead, they threw a big party, with Menands police and fire departments, and the sheriff's office.
The first responders got Bryce his own set of gear and a helmet, and an electric car he can drive, that looks just like a Menands patrol car.
