Three families homeless following Amsterdam fire

AMSTERDAM, NY (WRGB)--Three families are out of their homes right now after a massive fire in Amsterdam.

The flames broke out around noon today on Guy Park Ave.

A neighbor tells CBS6 he smelled something burning, saw the house engulfed in flames and called 911.

Authorities say they had a hard time battling the flames because of the wind.

Crews from several departments were eventually able to put the fire out.

It's still not clear what started the fire.
