Gloversville police investigate attempted abduction

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (WRGB) - Gloversville police are investigating an attempted abduction.

Police say the incident happened Monday around 6 p.m. in the area of North Clark Drive and Summer Street.

According to investigators, three kids say a man in a black miniman or SUV type of vehicle approached them and asked for directions to Gloversville High School.

After one of the kids gave directions to the man, police say he told them that he had forgotten the directions and asked that they get in his vehicle to show him the way.

After the kids refused, authorities say the man threatened the kids. The kids ran away and the vehicle was seen continuing west onto W. Fulton Street.

Police say the suspect is white and in his 40s or 50s. They say he was wearing glasses with a blue plaid shirt and had a gray beard.

Attempts to locate the man and the car have been unsuccessful. Anyone with information can contact the Gloversville Police Department at 518-773-4506.
