TROY, NY (WRGB) A statement of hate in Troy and the city is taking action.

Stickers have been turning up on light poles and other places in Troy such as one on Third Street, saying that “white people are being disrespected" and must “strike back."

The mayor's office says others popped up earlier and were taken down. The signs indicate they come from the group called Hundred Handers, a white supremacist group.

Governor Cuomo has also announced a task force to work with Troy Police to investigate.

"I am directing the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist local authorities in their investigation to ensure those responsible are found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. These acts are not just disgusting - they are illegal, and we will never allow hate and discrimination to divide us in New York," said Governor Cuomo.
