Group asks New York to slam the brakes on recreational pot legalization


ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) – There’s another group now asking New York state to slam the brakes on recreational marijuana legalization.

Victims of drug abuse were joined by officials from the Smart Approaches to Marijuana New York group in Albany on Monday afternoon.

The group says that the big pot industry's expansion could have big consequences in public safety.

The president of SAM NY is Dr. Kevin Sabet, a former drug policy advisor to President Barack Obama

Last week, sheriffs from around the state met in Albany to voice their concerns over pot legalization.
